Physicals

Why are annual physicals important?

An annual physical is one of the most important steps patients can take in preventing a wide range of health conditions and detecting problems at their earliest, most treatable stage. During a physical, each patient’s weight, height, body mass index (BMI), blood pressure, and vision are checked and a thorough physical examination is done. Usually, fasting blood work is ordered. An electrocardiogram (EKG) and urinalysis may also be done. If necessary, Jeanette refers patients for follow-up tests, such as mammograms, colonoscopies, or hearing screenings. An annual physical also provides an opportunity to build the provider-patient relationship. She is a firm believer in educating patients to be pro-active participants in their healthcare
